Buffalo Garlic Tofu from Whole Foods Market

This recipe is direct from the Whole Foods kitchen. It is one of my favorite deli items from Whole Foods!!! You will need to start early so the tofu can drain sufficiently, sit in its flavorful marinade for a good hour, bake another 30 minutes or more and cool down.

BTW, drying tofu before cooking makes it awesome! So here’s a video that teaches 5 different ways to dry your tofu 🙂

This is one of my favorite things from Whole Foods Deli! They put the recipe out, I made it and it’s perfect, so heck yes, I’m gonna steal it! This is great by itself or you can add it to rice or quinoa dishes. Heck, I saw my son put it on top of his pasta today! Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 2 14-ounce packages extra-firm tofu
  • 8 large garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Bragg Liquid Aminos*
  • 1 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
  • 1 small Spanish onion diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
  1. Remove the tofu from the packages and drain the water. Place the bricks in a large colander or other perforated pan in the sink or over a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and weight them down well with a few cans (about a pound or so each) or other weights at least 2 hours. This will help drain any excess water from the tofu. After the tofu has drained, cut into 1-inch cubes and place in a large bowl.

  2. Meanwhile, in a food processor fitted with the metal blade, process the garlic, olive oil, Liquid Aminos and black pepper until smooth. Pour this liquid over the tofu. Add the onions and toss gently to make sure all the cubes are covered. Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate at room temperature, tossing at least once more, for an hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Transfer the tofu with the marinade to a large baking dish so the cubes are in a single layer and not crowded. Bake the tofu in the center of the oven 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the chopped parsley. Makes about 32 (1-inch) cubes (about 6 cubes per serving).
